Proper Planning Saves Time and Money on Remoist Gluing
Remoist gluing is an essential part of almost every direct mail piece. As the name implies, remoist glue is activated by the end user, usually to seal an envelope. If your project self-mails, or binds into something else, inline production should be considered. At GPPS, remoist glue can be applied in conjunction with start/stop perforating and scoring, side-seam envelope gluing and fugitive glue application, folding and more.
To take full advantage of such a work flow requires careful advance planning. Here are a few tips to help you accomplish that:
Common Applications
Remoist gluing is most commonly found on direct mail components, including self-mailers, envelopes, bind-in inserts and BRCs (business reply cards). Quantities can range from a few thousand pieces to a million or more.
Technical Tips
At GPPS we use hotmelt extrusion formulas. Hotmelt remoist glues dry instantly, which translates to faster run speeds and quicker turnaround times for you. Hot melt extrusion formulas are favored over cold glue formulas because they do not curl the stock and they provided for a professional finished look.
If your project format allows, consider multiple-up layouts to save money on long runs. Our multiple-head remoist gluing capabilities allow for fast production on a variety of multiple-up layouts. Let the GPPS planning experts help create the ideal layout for your application. Ink coverage, coatings and choice of stocks all play a role to the overall success of your remoist glue project.
